The Hemstreet Park Fire Department was established in 1931 and is located in the town of Schaghticoke. and is supported by the taxpayer of the Hemstreet park Fire district #4.
The Hemstreet park fire district covers 14 sq mi. in Rensselaer County. We serve a total of 485 residential homes and 15 businesses. We serve over 1600 residents and have an influx of over 600 temporary residents from once the local campground opens. We have a total of fifty-two members with thirty active members.
Last year we have responded to 122 calls. The services the department provides are, water and ice rescue, fire suppression, EMS first response, brush and forestry firefighting and Hazardous material decontamination.
